Abstract

1447397 Xerographic copying machines; automatic control XEROX CORP 4 Dec 1973 [5 Dec 1972] 56231/73 Headings G2H and G3N An electrophotographic copying machine of the kind described in Specification 1439771 in which the various operations of exposing a photosensitive surface and developing the resultant latent image formed thereon, transferring the developed image to a copy sheet, fusing the transferred image on the copy sheet, cleaning the photo-sensitive surface for reuse, etc., are controlled both as to their sequence and duration of operation by pulses generated by means operatively connected to the machine drive; further includes a test device capable of being brought into an operative relationship with the pulse generator and with a counter in such a manner that the counter will give an indication of the number of pulses generated by said pulse generator during test operation of the machine. The test device disconnects the copy counter of the machine from its associated copy sensing means and reconnects it to the pulse generator. Where the voltage output from the copy sensing means and the pulse generator differ, the test device may include means for increasing or reducing the voltage signal from the pulse generator to suit the required input for the counter.
