Abstract

1447049 Coated marking element P P PAYNE Ltd 29 Nov 1973 [18 Dec 1972] 58403/ 72 Heading B2E [Also in Division B6] A marking element suitable for marking a textile article comprises a support and marking characters and has at least one face which includes a heat curable polyurethane composition comprising (a) a liquid urethane prepolymer of which the free isocyanate groups are substantially blocked and (b) an elastomeric polyamine-extended polyurethane. The element may be in the form of a label or a transfer (see Divn. B6), the support being respectively permanent or temporary. When permanent, the support may be of woven fabric, particularly of nylon 66 yarns, or of bonded fibres and may be impregnated or coated with the polyurethane composition. One face of the support may carry the marking characters, which may be printed on with an ink comprising the heat curable polyurethane composition, and the other face may include the composition. The marking characters may be overcoated with a transparent layer which may be continuous or merely in registry with the characters and which may also comprise the polyurethane composition. The label may be applied to a cotton fabric by heat and pressure.
