Abstract

1444837 Torsional vibrator dampers CARL FREUDENBERG 4 June 1974 [6 June 1973] 24722/74 Heading F2S A torsional vibration damper comprises a connector 6, an inertial mass 8, 9, and one or more springy elements 7 connecting the inertial mass 8, 9, to the connector 6, the inertial mass being rotatably supported from the connector 6 by a bearing 10, and the resonant frequency of oscillation of the inertial mass 8, 9, relative to the connector 6 being between 2 and 20 Hertz. Fig. 3 shows the inertial mass 8, 9 supported on rigid spokes 9a, Fig. 2 (not shown) and resilient spokes 7, either of which may be used as fan-blades. Fig. 1 (not shown) illustrates an embodiment with a single elastomeric element 2 and a large diameter bearing surface 5. In Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the springy elements 12 are located in circumferentiallyarranged cavities 14 in the inertial mass 14 and press against fingers 1 la of the connector 11.
