Abstract

1444296 Push-button switches GTE INTERNATIONAL Inc 22 Oct 1974 45725/74 Heading H1N An assembly of push-button switches comprises a base member 1 supporting a laterallyspaced array of pressure operable switch means with an overlying flexible membrane 10 having a plurality of upstanding push-buttons 13, 14 integral with or attached to its upper surface, each button being in register with a corresponding switch means below the membrane, said buttons being guided for sliding movement perpendicularly to said membrane, to actuate respective switch means, by apertures 9 in a guide plate 8 enclosing said membrane 10 between itself and the base member 1. As shown, convex discs 6 are retained in contact with conductors 2 and within apertures 5 in a plate 4 by a self-adhesive insulating foil 7 in known manner to snap overcentre when pressed and thus establish electrical connection between conductors 2 and 3. The push buttons 14 may be formed integrally with membrane 10 or mechanically secured thereto by soldering a central wire (not shown) to a printed circuit provided on the underside of membrane 10 for connecting terminals 12 to buttons in the form of light emitting bulbs or diodes 13.
