Abstract
1443890 Pistons UNITED STIRLING (SWEDEN) AB & CO KB 22 Nov 1974 50614/74 Heading F2T In sealing, e.g. a piston 2 of a Stirling-cycle engine, a gap which may form between the cylinder wall 1 and a continuous polymeric ring 6, when the engine is cold, is bridged by an, at least partly, polymeric split ring 8. The ring 8 is resiliently urged into contact with the wall 1 by a spring strip 9 of undulatory form. The polymeric material of the rings 6 and 8 may be P.T.F.E. reinforced with glass fibre.
