Abstract

1443077 Feeding sheets J BOBST & FILS SA 29 Jan 1974 [28 Feb 1973] 03959/74 Heading B8R A sheet 7a is separated from the bottom of a pile 7 by a belt 1 which is intermittently advanced over a suction chamber 10 by an oscillating crank 30 operating on a belt pulley 5. The crank shaft 28 is connected to the pulley 5 by a one-way clutch so that the pulley and belt are only advanced during movement of the crank in the direction F2. During reverse movement of the crank the pulley 5 is permitted to "freewheel" whereby advancement of the sheet 7a (and thus the belt 1) by forwarding rollers 33 and 34 is possible. Following complete removal of the sheet 7a from the belt the latter is braked by the suction effect from chamber 10. The rear edge of the pile is supported on a roller 38 and the front edge abuts a stop 9 which provides a sheet feed throat. The crank 30 is driven from wheel 32 by way of link 31. Two similar separating devices of the type described above may be arranged in tandem to operate on a single pole (Fig. 4, not shown).
