Abstract
1442414 Clocks and watches E BAUCHES SA 7 Dec 1973 [13 Dec 1972] 56801/73 Heading G3T In a resonant system for a timepiece comprising two oscillatory bodies having different natural frequencies but coupled together by at least one respective magnet on each so that the lower frequency body is synchronized by the higher frequency body, each body is able to oscillate freely or both sides of its equilibrium position and the paths of the oscillatory portions never coincide. As shown the bodies are a tuning fork 1 and a balance wheel 4, each carrying a pair of magnets 3 or 5. The magnets 3 move tangentially with respect to the magnets 5 and act by repulsion, but in other embodiments they move radially with respect to the balance or parallel to its axis, and may act by attraction. The balance has a frequency which is an integral fraction of that of the tuning fork and controls the timepiece display. The balance may be driven by the tuning fork or may drive the latter while remaining synchronized to it.
