Abstract

1442227 Harmonic filters for waveguides AMANA REFRIGERATION Inc 23 May 1974 [4 June 1973] 23172/74 Heading H1W [Also in Division H5] A low-pass filter for use, e.g. in the input waveguide 62 of a microwave heating oven, comprises a conductive member 78 having transverse ribs 80, 82 and, in each rib, a number of slots 158, corresponding slots in the different ribs being aligned. It is stated that the slots are effective in suppressing TE n0 -mode energy where n is equal to the number of slots in each rib; i.e. the arrangement shown is for suppression of the TE 40 mode. The filter is otherwise identical to that shown in Specification 1,399,043 which provides a stop-band whose lower cut-off is above a chosen frequency but below the harmonics thereof.
