1441654 Billing apparatus CASIO COMPUTER CO Ltd 20 June 1973 [22 June 1972] 29217/73 Heading G4A Apparatus for arithmetically handling and printing bill records of the kind in which each horizontal line of print is divided into a plurality of column divisions each of which defines vertical column in the printed record includes means for generating and storing signals defining tabset positions, and hence column divisions, and means for performing arithmetic operations on stored data corresponding to certain column divisions under the control of a program and the stored tabset defining signals. The system is arranged to calculate and print bills having various formats, e.g. Fig. 2. Initially the format is defined by entering "tab" marks defining the columns on the bill in register 14. For the example of Fig. 2 "tab" marks are entered in positions 15, 30, 40, 55, 65, 80, 90, 105, and 120. Register 15 circulates a single mark in synchronism with the movement of a printing device along the rows of a bill. Signals are produced by AND gates 17 and 24 when a "tab" position is reached. Data is entered via a keyboard and buffer 26 into register 31 into the appropriate columns. Register 31 stores several lines of the bill and program device 37 and an addressing circuit perform the desired operations under control of the "tab" marks on the entered data, e.g. multiply column 1 by column 2 and enter in column 3 &c. The results are printed in the appropriate columns on the bill. Column totals are then accumulated in register 41 and are printed in the final line of the bill.
