Abstract

1441367 Polycarbonate moulding compositions BAYER AG 29 March 1974 [26 May 1973] 14025/74 Heading C3R A moulding composition comprises (a) 90 to 50 parts by weight of a thermoplastic aromati polycarbonate of molecular weight between 10,000 and 100,000, (b) 1 to 50 parts by weight of a hydrophobic quartz mineral that is composed of over 90% by weight of SiO 2 , and (c) 0À1 to 10 parts by weight of one or more vinyl polymers containing, in the same polymer or in a mixture of polymers, both epoxy groups and ether acyloxysilane groups or alkoxysilane groups, the composition containing at least 0À01 parts by weight of epoxy equivalents and 0À01 parts by weight of silicon resulting from the silane groups. Up to 30% by weight of the quartz mineral may be replaced by titanium dioxide. The polycarbonates used in the examples are those derived from bisphenol A, optionally with tetrabromobisphenol A or tetrachlorobisphenol A, Various vinyl polymers (c) are specified, e.g. that derived from glycidyl methacrylate, methyl methacrylate and vinyltriethoxy silane.
