Abstract

1440024 Scavenging vessels CHERNOMORSKOE TSENTRALNOE PROEKTNOKONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO 13 June 1973 28038/73 Heading B7A [Also in Division B1] The collection chamber 1 of a scavenging craft for collecting floating oil and solids from water is provided at its inlet with a weir or gate 2 supported by arms 4 on pivotable shafts 5 and associated with a pair of floats 8 each of which is connected to a respective shaft 5 by pivotable arms 9 and also be a coupling 11 and arm 17 which is pivotally connected to coupling 11 and rigidly to respective shaft 5 such that, in use, as the floats rise and fall the weir 2 is adjusted correspondingly to maintain the liquid layer overflowing the weir 2 at a constant predetermined depth. Each coupling 11 comprises hydraulic cylinder 12 whereby the predetermined depth of the floats can be varied. The floats are mounted in enclosures. Seals 21 (and 22, not shown) are provided between the weir and adjacent walls of chamber 1.
