Abstract

1439274 Keyboards; photographic type composing apparatus TZU-HUNG LI 5 June 1973 26836/73 Heading B6F and B6W A keyboard for selecting an ideographic character in composing Chinese or Japanese text comprises one hundred keys each representing a two digit decimal code typifying the first two operations in writing a prefix or a suffix portion of the ideographic character, the complete selection operation requiring the depression of two keys relating respectively to the prefix and the suffix. Further keys 201-221 change the output of the keyboard: key 213 relates to Chinese, 214 to Japanese, and 215-221 for other languages, while keys 201-208 specify the type size and form. The keyboard is especially applied to a type composing machine, Fig. 4, in which the ideographic and other characters are arranged on a drum 10, a lamp 20 flashing when the selected character is in position, and projecting the character on to orthogonally positionable film 40 through a point lens 31, a mirror 32 and a projection lens 33.
