Abstract

1439068 Packaging; endless conveyers M CAVANNA 25 Oct 1973 [2 Nov 1972] 49758/73 Headings B8C and B8A A device for registering articles 4 with wrapper blanks 11 comprises an article feed conveyer 2 consisting of two laterally spaced conveyer belts above which pushers 5 of a main endless conveyer 1 can project to engage the articles 4 and place them on blanks 11 previously fed on to the main endless conveyer 1. The registered articles and blanks are fed by the conveyer 1 to a packaging machine. The conveyer 1 comprises a chain extending around sprockets and a slideway (18a, 18b), Fig. 3 (not shown), for the blanks and articles. The chain may slide over the slideway (18a, 18b) if sprocket 6 is omitted or, when sprocket 6 is provided, the slideway (18a, 18b) includes a medial slot (21), Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), through which the pushers 5 project. The spacings between the pushers 5 and between lateral blank guide strips (22), Fig. 3 (not shown), which are fixed to the slideway, are adjustable. The article feed conveyer 2 is driven faster than a preceding accumulator conveyer belt 3 and at the same speed as the conveyer 1. The blanks 11 are cut by knives 15, 16 from a web of material fed and longitudinally scored by rollers 13, 14.
