Abstract
1439059 Geographical clocks N SENGER 15 Oct 1973 [17 Oct 1972 8 Sept 1973] 47999/73 Heading G3T [Also in Division G5] A changing display of the areas of the world which are in daylight or darkness is provided by selective energization of electronic elements, e.g. light emitting diodes or liquid crystal elements, to control the illumination of a screen in the form of a transparent map of the world. The display may also show the weather and may be in colour, or may show other additional information such as traffic movements, and additional markings or data may be projected on the screen. Switching of the elements is controlled by a magnetic tape reader, an electronic clock and memory, or by clockwork.
