Abstract

1438900 Disazo pigments CIBA-GEIGY AG 17 July 1974 [20 July 1973] 31592/74 Heading C3P [Also in Division C4] Disazo pigments have the formula where A denotes a direct bond, an alkylene radical with 1-8 C which is optionally interrupted by atoms other than carbon atoms, arylene radical or aralkylene radical or a carbonyl group; B denotes a carbocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic radical, X is -O-, -S-, -CONH- or -NHCO- and A can only be a direct bond if X represents -CONH- or -NHCO- and A can denote carbonyl only if X is O, Y and Z denote O or S or imino groups and R 1 is H, C 1-4 alkyl or phenyl. The pigments are made by coupling a tetrazo or tetrazoamino compound with the appropriate diazine. They may be used for the mass pigmentation of high-molecular material such as cellulose ethers and esters, aminoplasts, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polyacrylonitrile, polyesters, polyamides in the form or plastic masses, melts, spinning solutions, lacquers or paints or printing inks.
