1438753 Instrument housings and mountings VDO ADOLF SCHINDLING AG 6 May 1975 [7 May 1974] 19042/75 Heading G1J In an indicating instrument for fixing to a surface and having a circular cylindrical housing 1 closed at one end by a coverglass 2 and at the other end by a rear wall 3 which supports an indicating mechanism 4, the housing 1 having two spaced-apart bearing cheeks 10, 11 parallel to one another, and a base 12 having at least one bearing eye 13 which is connected to the bearing cheeks by a screw 14 so that the housing may be pivotally adjustable and lockable relative to the base, the rear wall 3 has a tubular extension 7 which fits into the housing, and the housing 1 has, between the bearing cheeks 10, 11 a longitudinal slot 16 which extends forwards from the rear of the housing over part of the length of the housing. With the screw 14 slack, the rear wall 3, and with it the indicating mechanism 4 with its dial 5 and pointer 6 may be rotatably adjusted bodily relative to the housing 1. Tightening the screw 14 not only clamps the bearing eye 13 between the bearing cheeks 10, 11, but also tightens the housing 1 about the tubular extension 7 or the rear wall 3 to clamp the latter against rotation. The tubular extension 7 covers the slot 16 to exclude dust, &c.
