Abstract
1438585 Cold-cathode tubes; fluorescent discharge lamps G O OKIKIOLU [trading as OKIKIOLU SCIENTIFIC INDUSTRIAL ORGANIZATION] 1 April 1975 48817/73 Heading H1D Electrode arrangements in a gaseous discharge system or in an electrolytic system or in a dielectric system comprise a pair of primary electrodes 9 in the form of substantially parallel plates or a disc with a surrounding annulus (Fig. 4, not shown) at one end of the system and a further electrode 8 or pair of electrodes (Figs. 1 or 2, not shown) at the other end of the system connected either in series or in parallel with the electrodes 9 so that in the case of a gaseous discharge system when the tube shown is filled with Ne, A, Xe, Hg or a mixture of these, a gas discharge between the electrodes 9 is extended to the electrode 8 or electrode pair. In the case of electrolytic ionization or dielectric polarization, it is stated that electromagnetic energy is concentrated and propagated between the ends of the system. One electrode 9 may have a tab bent towards the other electrode. The electrodes may be coated with photo-electric or second electron emissive material. The tube may have an interior coating of a phosphor to form a fluorescent lamp. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) electrode pairs are arranged along the four sides of a rectangular panel.
