Abstract

1438364 Air reducing device MOLSON INDUSTRIES Ltd 21 Aug 1973 [8 May 1973] 39486/73 Heading B8T [Also in Division B1] An air reducing device destroys foam and removes air from bottles en route from a filling station FS to a crowning station CS and consists of a tubular member 10 having an arcuate axis disposed in a horizontal plane and a plurality of arcuately aligned and spaced jet apertures 11 extending along its lower extremity. A vertical manifold 12 connects a pressurized CO 2 gas supply 21 via a hand valve 20 to the member 10 and is horizontally bored so as to be adjustable on a support arm 13. Set screws 14 hold the manifold 12 in position on the end of arm 13. The other end of arm 13 is fixed by a collar 15 to a vertical post 17 which is integral with a second support arm 18 radially mounted on the filling apparatus by means of a vertical bolt 19. Collar 15 and set screw 16 provide horizontal angular and vertical adjustment of the assembly. Further horizontal angular adjustment is available from the mounting 19. The assembly is adjusted so that the axis of member 10 is in vertical alignment with a part of the path of the bottles extending from a filling station to a crowning station. The gas jets break down the foam and displace air from the bottles so preventing oxidation of contents after bottling.
