1438206 Controlling light SUWA SEIKOSHA KK 8 Oct 1974 [16 Oct 1973] 43559/74 Heading H4F In a display device comprising at least one polarizer disposed adjacent an electro-optic liquid crystal cell, at least part of the or one polarizer is coated or dyed so to act as a filter for substantially absorbing light of wavelengths lying below a value selected from the range 3800 to 5500 Š, such light otherwise causing damage to the liquid crystal material. As particularly described the cell is disposed between two polarizers one being followed by a diffuse reflector and the other one being overlaid by the filter coating, or being constituted by a polarizing film between plastics plates at least one of which is dyed.
