Abstract

1437737 Paper-making apparatus J M VOITH GmbH 15 Feb 1974 [17 Feb 1973] 7045/74 Heading D2A In a machine for making cardboard having two or more layers each layer being produced by an upper forming unit, comprising an endless wire loop 4, breast roll 5, tension rolls 7, 7', press roll 8, headbox 9, mounted on columns 3 of the machine frame, and suction boxes 10, and laid down on an endless felt loop 1 common to each unit, those parts 5, 6, 7, 7' 8, 10 of the unite which lie within the wire loop 4 and the guide rolls 20 and press rolls 22 which lie within the felt loop 1 are all supported by a structure such that during wire or felt changing they can be supported from one side of the machine only. As shown the support structure includes supports 19 attached to cross members 11 which are supported on vertical support members 12, 13, the members 12, 13 on the control side of the machine having movable sections 14-18. To change a felt 1 the new felt is inserted double along the lower run then its top layer is pulled laterally through the gaps left by removal of sections 14 and 16, lifted between the members 12, 13 and the columns 3, and then replaced through the gaps left by removal of sections 15 and 17. Changing of the wire 4 entails removal of the sections 15 and 18.
