Abstract

1435785 Article clamping apparatus H PFEIFER [trading as EDUARD PFEIFER] 18 July 1973 [4 Aug 1972] 34240/73 Heading B8H Apparatus for use with a hoist for lifting and transporting goods comprises a pair of spaced apart C-shaped frames 1 (one of which is shown) whose lower members 16 support the load to be lifted, a pivot 9 extends between the upper parts 18 of the frames 1 and carries, adjacent each frame 1, a scissors-like linkage 3-6, each linkage carrying a clamp member 2 arranged to press from above on a load disposed on the frames 1, the members 3, 4 of each linkage being connected to a pivot 8 which is guided in a guide 10 and a lifting arm 7 is also pivotally connected to the pivot 8 such that when a pull is exerted on the apparatus by way of a hoist engaging an eye of the arm 7 the linkages are expanded to move the clamp members 2 into engagement with the load. Latches 11, 12 are provided for engagement with the pivot 8 and lifting arm 7 respectively, the latch 12 engaging the arm 7 when the latter is pivoted to an inclined position as shown in phantom.
