Abstract
1435445 Gun carriage BOFORS AB 17 Jan 1974 [17 Jan 1973] 02316/74 Heading F3C A carriage 1, Figs. 1 and 2, for a gun has carriage trails 4, 5 pivotally connected thereto by pins 6, 7, Fig. 5, respectively, the pins being inclined so that the orientation of the carriage 1 remains the same when in the transport position as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, and in the firing position as shown in Figs. 3 and 4. The trails 4, 5 are provided with pivoted wheels 8, 9 respectively which are mounted in brackets 10, 11 and are movable between active and inactive positions by cylinders 12, 13. The trails are secured in the transport position by a device 14, Fig. 2, and are provided with a towing attachment 15. The tracks are fastened in the firing position by arms 16, 17, Fig. 4, and respective brackets 18, 19. In converting from the transport position to the firing position the device 14 is released, after which one of the wheels 8 or 9 is raised by the cylinder 12 or 13. Because of the inclined pins 6 or 7 the trail 4 or 5 moves under the influence of its own weight into contact with the ground and is then fastened by the arm 16 or 17. The other wheel is then raised, the other trail then moves into contact with the ground and is fastened by an arm. In converting back to the transport position, both trails are raised slightly by the wheels 8, 9, the rams 16, 17 are released and the trails return to their position shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
