Abstract

1434795 Bag wickets UNION CARBIDE CORP 24 April 1973 [24 April 1972] 19396/73 Heading B8C [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] A wicket comprises a pair of legs 23, 25 extending through holes 27, 29 in a stack of bags or wrapping sheets, a cross member 15 of greater span than the distance between the legs and connected to a pair of restraining members 17, 19 bearing against the edge of the topmost bag or sheet, and shoulder members 31, 35, 39, and 33, 37, 41 extending upwardly from the legs and connecting the legs to the restraining members 17, 19. The restraining members 17, 19 may be inclined or perpendicular to the cross member. The middle of the cross member may be bent to form another restraining member. The wicket can be integrally formed from wire or rod stock. Alternatively a rod may be welded to the cross member to form a restraining member. An air nozzle which opens the topmost bag can bear against the cross member or the wicket can be weighted.
