1434198 Rollers ILFORD Ltd 7 Aug 1973 [28 Sept 1972] 44791/72 Heading F2U [Also in Division D1] A power-transmitting roller (also called backing roller) for driving a web material through an apparatus for treating the web (e.g. coating or drying a web), consists of a rigid roller having its surface covered with a helically wound filament. The roller may be made of stainless or mild steel and the filament may be a plastic material (e.g. nylon) or metal (e.g. stainless steel). The interstices between the filament and roller preferably are filled with resin.
