Abstract

1433649 Tripping circuit breakers simultaneously WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 12 Aug 1974 [21 Aug 1973] 35464/74 Heading H1N An assembly of at least four circuit breakers arranged side-by-side (10-16, Fig. 1, not shown) has a trip bar arrangement such that the breakers of either the inner pair, or the outer pair, will trip simultaneously without operating those of the other pair. The circuit breakers are of a type, generally similar to those in U.S. Specification 3,475,710 having an operating mechanism which latches when locked and is released by a trip lever (Fig. 2, not shown). The trip levers of the inner pair 62, 64 have hub portions 66, 68 with axially aligned holes through 70 and they are interlocked to move together by one or more notches 78 in the end face of one hub which are engaged by corresponding projections 76 on the end face of the other. A tie bar 74 extends through the axial holes 70 and has the hub portions 60 of the two outer trip levers 58 secured to its end portions 72, which are preferably of non-circular, crosssection. The tie bar 74 is freely rotatable within the hub portions 66, 68 so that the inner pair of interlocked trip levers can rotate without operating the outer pair and vice versa.
