Abstract

1433352 Liquid treatment of fabric webs NEIL & SPENCER Ltd 24 April 1974 [25 April 1973] 19612/73 Heading D1L Fabric webs are repeatedly immersed in a treatment liquid contained in the curvedbottom vessel O by passing the web 1 through a reciprocating U-shaped duct I pivoted at 7, the duct having perforated upper and lower walls 8 and 9 through which the treatment liquid flows, wherein the perforated upper wall 8 of the duct has vertical baffles 12 which urge the treatment liquid to pass through the web as opposed to around the side of the web at 57. The duct may be reciprocated by a rotating crank 8a through connecting rod 8b. The lower wall 8 and/or the floor of the vessel O may have baffles 53 and 54 to prevent treatment liquid surging up between the wall of the vessel and the duct. The web may be fed into and out of the duct by rollers 1 and 5, the speed of the input roller being adjusted in response to detector 55 to maintain the web in a pleated condition. The incoming web may be sprayed with treatment liquid from nozzle 2, the spray maintaining the liquid level between the limits 51' and 51".
