Abstract

1433164 Cutter bit assemblies GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 13 Sept 1973 [14 Sept 1972] 42998/73 Heading E1F A mineral-mining cutter bit assembly comprises a holder 10 having a base portion and side and end walls defining a cavity 12, one of the end walls having an opening 15 extending through the wall into the cavity, a bit 11 having a root portion 14 adapted to be received in the cavity and to cooperate with the holder at the end opposite the aperture, the root portion having a screw threaded bore 22 which aligns with the aperture 20 when the root portion is positioned within the cavity, and a screw 21 adapted to be screwed through the aperture into the bore, the screw having a head 22 for engagement with at least part of the periphery of the aperture to retain the bit in place. Preferably the head is cylindrical and engages through an arc of about 180‹ with a complementary arcuate recess in a shoulder of the end wall partly defining the aperture 20. A tapering shoulder 25 between the head and threaded shank of the screw is provided for engaging with a complementary shoulder 26 of the bore 22.
