Abstract
1432353 Filter apparatus BIVAC AIR CO LTD 2 Oct 1973 [4 July 1972] 31217/73 Heading BIT A filter apparatus for removing solid particles from a fluid, e.g. air or liquid, comprises a casing 10 having an inlet for particle-laden fluid, an outlet 12 for filtered fluid, one or more filter bags or sleeves 14 having closed lower ends and open upper ends mounted within the housing for inward flow of fluid therethrough, the lower ends of the filter bag or tubes being loaded by a weight 17 or spring 16, a valve-closed pressurised air delivery pipe 19 directed towards the open end of the filter bag or sleeve and an adjustable valve-operating means 22 associated with one bag or sleeve end arranged to open the valve for a duration of time upon a predetermined shortening movement of the bag or sleeve resulting from differential pressure created by particle build-up thereon so effect reverse flow cleaning of the bags or sleeves. The valve operating means may comprise a central rod (23, Fig. 4 not shown) mounted within the bag or sleeve arranged to open a valve 22 mounted above the bag upon shortening of the bag. Means may be provided to clean the bags sequentially upon circulation.
