Abstract
1431230 Liquid level indication BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 27 Feb 1975 [19 March 1974] 12050/74 Heading G1H In a liquid level indicator an electrically conductive mild steel probe 2 insulated throughout its length by a P.T.F.E. sleeve 3, except at the ends, is slidably insertable in a stainless steel tube 7 mounted in a plug 1 and the arrangement is such that an electrical circuit is normally completed through the probe 2 and an oil level indicating means 6 fitted on a vehicle dashboard and when an oil level falls below the probe 2 the circuit is broken to actuate a warning lamp. The plug is provided with fins 5 trimmed to facilitate the entry and sealing of the passage into an engine.
