Abstract
1430810 Feeding sheets RANK XEROX Ltd 28 Dec 1973 59956/73 Heading B8R A plurality of pile supports 31, Fig. 2, are mounted side by side in almost vertical position, and each support has a pair of separator rollers 33, the assembly being movable in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the sheets to bring a selected pile and rollers into a feed position, wherein sheets are fed between guides 34, 35 to a sheet detector and then to a feed gripper bar 37. The guide 34 is moved out of the path of the assembly by a solenoid 38 during pile selection. To facilitate access to any pile, a plurality of frames are pivoted along one side edge, and each frame carries a pile support on one side and the separator means for the next lower pile on the other side. Each pile support 41, Fig. 4, includes a rear guide 45 and an adjustable side guide 44. Locks 55 secure the supports together, and an interlock arrangement prevents opening of the assembly at more than one place at a time. Cams 52 actuate microswitches when the height of a pile drops below a certain amount. The supports are accommodated in the cabinet of a copying- machine, and pressure sensitive switches stop the drive for selecting a pile if an operator's hand is caught.
