Abstract

1429807 Windscreen wipers CHRYSLER UNITED KINGDOM Ltd 6 Nov 1974 [6 Aug 1973] 37217/73 Heading A4F In a vehicle windscreen wiper assembly comprising an angularly oscillatable wiper arm carrying a wiper blade means is provided for extending and retracting the arm as it is oscillated to vary the distance of the wiper blade from the axis of oscillation of the arm during its sweep. During wiper operation a wiper motor (not shown) drives via gearing 29, 28 a rotary cam 27 to actuate a piston 26 in a cylinder 25 coupled by flexible hoses 23, 20 and the hollow wiper spindle 12 to a tubular portion 15 of the wiper arm 10 containing a piston 19. The latter is moved by hydraulic fluid disposed between the pistons together with a rod 17 carrying the wiper blade 16.
