1429512 1,3,5-Triazine derivatives TEIJIN Ltd 22 Feb 1973 [24 Feb 1972 9 Sept 1972 13 Sept 1972] 8809/73 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions C3 and D1] 1,3,5-Triazine derivatives of the Formula I: wherein X<SP>1</SP> represents -S-, -O- or Y<SP>1</SP>, which may be the same as or different from X<SP>1</SP>, represents -S-, -O- or A, B and R each independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 3 to 18 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, an optionally substituted benzyl group, a phenyl group which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more substituents selected from halogen atoms and methyl, ethyl, nitro, methoxy and ethoxy groups, a cyanoalkyl group having 3 to 5 carbon atoms, a dialkylamino group having 2 to 8 carbon atoms or a phenylamino group, and D and E each independently represents a hydrogen atom or a group as defined for A, B and R, or A, E and X<SP>1</SP> and/or B, D and Y<SP>1</SP> together form a heterocyclic ring containing 2 to 5 carbon atoms with the following provisos: (i) A, B and R do not all represent a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, (ii) R does not represent a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group when X<SP>1</SP> and Y<SP>1</SP> each independently represents -S- or -O-, (iii) R does not represent a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group when X<SP>1</SP> represents -O-, or -S-, Y<SP>1</SP> represents and neither D nor E is a hydrogen atom, (iv) B and R do not both represent a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group when Y<SP>1</SP> represents -NH- and X<SP>1</SP> represents -S-, -O- or where E is not a hydrogen atom, and (v) the sum of the number of carbon atoms in A, B, D, E and R is at least 10, are prepared conventionally from cyanuric halides [Tables 1-6]. The compounds of Formula I are gas-fade inhibitors for polyurethanes and cellulose acetates.
