Abstract
1429253 Gas filter AMERICAN AIR FILTER CO INC 27 Sept 1973 [29 Sept 1972] 45344/73 Heading BIT A pocket type filter element is made by sewing two sheets of filter medium together by parallel rows of stitches and along one end to form a flat bag dvided into pockets each open at one end 6, and external reinforcing strips 26, 28, of pervious or impervious material are sewn on at the same time to cover the stitch holes. Stitching may involve one or two threads in each row. The filter medium may be woven or felted possibly reinforced by outer layers 15, 17 of scrim. The strips 26, 28 may be multi-stranded, fluffy yarn. Several such elements may be glued to a common end plate (Fig. 1 not shown).
