Abstract

Thermometers.-Apparatus for indicating or recording electrically the movements of pressure temperature or other responsive elements comprises the employment of a motion magnifying member supported on a plate spring and effecting the measurements electrically. In the form shown in Fig. 1, as applied to a pressure gauge for indicating subaqueous depths, a diaphragm B acts through a plug G<2> in a resilient arm G, and through a steel needle J upon a lever F suspended by a plate spring F<1>. This lever operates through a plate spring F<2>, a motion-magnifying lever D suspended by a spring D<2> and providing a contact D<1> moving over a resistance E<2> form. ing part of a Wheatstone's Bridge, including a millivoltmeter or equivalent instrument. In a modification, Fig. 3, the movements of the diaphragm B are conveyed to a curved rocking member L through a spring O. The member L is supported by a pair of plate springs L<1> and engages a coiled resistance M bared along the line of contact.
