Abstract

1428798 Rolling mills DEMAG AG 14 Dec 1973 [16 Dec 1972] 58068/73 Heading B3M A roll unit, having vertical rolls connected to a gear-box 15, is able to replace the rolls normally located in a rolling mill stand. An input shaft 19, which drives the vertical rolls through gearing 17, 16, 18, 13 and 14, can be connected to one of the two normal drive-shaft couplings of the stand. The other coupling may be supported by an idle shaft 22 supported in the stand. Alternatively, a separate driving motor bolted to the stand may be connected to the shaft 19.
