Abstract

1428471 Fixing apparatus CANON KK 13 March 1973 [28 March 1972] 11906/73 Heading G2H A copy 1 bearing a developed electrostatic image is dried by guiding it over a heating plate 5 within a sealed drying chamber 4, the copy 1 being transported through the chamber 4 and also urged against the plate 5 by one or more endless belts 42 driven around two rollers 40, 41. Preferably the belts 42 are of velvet or fur and seal the inlet and outlet openings 2, 11 of the chamber 4. A perforated aluminium pressure plate 43 is loosely mounted above the belts 42. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the use of a convex heating plate (50) obviates the need for a plate 43. In both embodiments, vapour driven off from the copy 1 is passed through an outlet 13 to a condenser (not shown).
