Abstract
1428167 Photo-electric measurement apparatus STAMICARBON BV 5 June 1973 [6 June 1972] 26770/73 Heading G1A The concentration of water particles in air is determined by introducing into an enclosed lighttight space a gas containing liquid particles, passing a beam of parallel light rays through the enclosed space, optically collecting light rays scattered at an angle in the range 30-40 degrees, preferably 35 degrees from the direction of the original beam, and measuring, with a light-sensitive device, the intensity of the collected light. As shown, the gas is drawn through the enclosed space 5 by a motor-driven fan 2 via light-tight labrynths 4, 6, the light beam being provided by an incandescent lamp and chopped by an apertured disc 11. The scattered light is collected by a lens 15 and a photo-multiplier 18, the output of which is applied to circuitry 19 including a phasesensitive detector synchronized by a light-detector 21 which co-operates with the disc 11 and a source 20. Instead of simple lenses 8, 15 mounted in straight tubes 9, 16, multiple lenses or prisms and/ or mirrors may be provided.
