Abstract

1427941 Toys AIRFIX PRODUCTS Ltd (N Strongin) 10 April 1974 [11 Jan 1973] 1595/73 Heading A6S A launching station for a toy vehicle of the inertia-wheel type comprises a casing 10 which houses an electric motor 14 driving a wheel 15. A segment of the wheel 15 projects through a slot 16 in the casing 10 to engage the inertia wheel 29 in the toy vehicle V which rests on the top cover platform portion 12. A switch, operated by twist-grip 20, rests in a neutral position but can be twisted one way to cause a spring 19 to bow and make contact with an electrical contact 18 to complete the motor circuit, or can be twisted the other way such that the bowing of the spring 19 causes a braking bar 26 to act on the wheel 15 and stop it; the kinetic energy in the inertia wheel 29 will then cause the toy vehicle to run off the casing down the ramp 11. In an alternative embodiment of the switch means, Figs. 7, 8 the control lever 33 is in the form of a gear lever which can be moved from a neutral position normally defined by the spring 19, into any one of four positions in a gate 34. Three of these positions switch on the electric motor powered by one, two or three batteries respectively; the fourth is the braking position as described in the first embodiment.
