Abstract

1427018 2-Nitromethylenepyrrolidine derivatives SHELL INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 2 May 1973 [4 May 1972 (2) 9 Feb 1973 (2)] 20820/73 Heading C2C [Also in Division A5] Example II.-Bromine is added to 2-(nitromethylene)piperidine to obtain 2-(bromonitromethylene)pyrrolidine. Example III.-The ethyl imidate of 3- methyl-2-pyrrolidone in nitromethane is refluxed and then excess nitromethane and ethanol is evaporate to give 3-methyl-2-(nitromethylene)pyrrolidine. Examples VI, VII, VIII and IX.-The 1 - alkyl - 2 - (nitromethylene)pyrrolidines wherein alkyl is ethyl, methyl, n-propyl and 2-propynyl are prepared from the corresponding 1 - alkyl - 2 - pyrrolidones by. heating with dimethyl sulphate, sodium methoxide and nitromethane. Example X.-1 - methyl - 2 - (nitromethylene)pyrrolidine is reacted with N-bromosuccinimide to give 3-bromo-1-methyl-2-(nitromethylene)pyrrolidine. Example XI.-1,3 - Dimethyl - 2 - pyrrolidine is reacted with a dialkyl sulphate or a trialkyloxonium fluoroborate, an alkali metal alkoxide and nitromethane to give 1,3-dimethyl-2-(nitromethylene)pyrrolidine. Example XII.-2 - (Nitromethylene)pyrrolidine is reacted with acetyl chloride to give 1-acetyl-2-(nitromethylene)pyrrolidine.
