Abstract
1426439 Valves BOC INTERNATIONAL Ltd 13 Dec 1973 [13 Nov 1972] 52229/72 Heading F2V [Also in Divisions A5 and A6] In a magnetically operated valve 12, the rocker 18 is of a soft magnetic material, whereas 22 and 28 are permanent magnets. In the collapsed condition of the bellows 26, the field due to the magnet 28 is stronger than that due to the magnet 22 in influencing the rocker 18 so that a conduit 34 establishes a connection with the interior of the chamber 14. As the conduit 34 is also in fluid-communication with the chamber 24 an increase in pressure in the conduit 34 distends the bellows at a rate determined by the position of a needle valve 32. As the magnet 28 moves further away from the rocker 18, the force exerted by it on the rocker decreases and at a certain position where the force is less than that due to the magnet 22 in the rocker, the valve 12 closes.
