Abstract
1425990 Rectifying LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS GmbH 22 June 1973 [23 June 1972] 29894/73 Heading H2F A multiphase rectifier comprises for each phase, a single phase bridge of two controlled rectifiers 10, 12 and two further rectifiers 11, 13 and a commutating capacitor 14 connected across a diagonal of the bridge, one side of the capacitor 14 being connected to one phase connection whilst the other side is connected via a further rectifier 15 to another phase or to the A.C. neutral. The invention is applicable to forced commutation rectifying circuits in which each controlled rectifier 10, 20, 30 is turned off by a respective capacitor 14, 24, 34 and commutating thyristor 12, 22, 32 before the time of natural commutation so as to improve the power factor of the system. For minimum output voltage only some or all of the commutation thyristors 12, 22, 32 are triggered. In Fig. 2 (not shown) diodes 15, 25, 35 for charging the commutating capacitors 14, 24, 34 via resistors 16, 26, 36 are connected to the neutral point O. A resistor is also included in series with each diode 13, 23, 33. In Fig. 3 (not shown) a further capacitor is included between the cathodes of diodes 11, 13 and a further diode included between the cathode of diode 13 and the right hand side of capacitor 14.
