Abstract
142,582. Billing, N. Pemberton-. Feb. 25, 1919. Open fire-places; cooking-stoves; baffles; supports for articles to be heated.-An open fire-place has, in front of the vertical grate front, a chamber through which the combustion products circulate. Fig. 2 shows, in plan, an open fire-place the grate A<3> of which is surrounded by a jacket C, at the lower end of which is the vertical grate front A<2>. In front of the bars A<2> is a chamber B, which has a flat upper surface serving as a hob, and is fitted with baffles D pivoted so that the combustion products may pass either round them, as shown, to vertical side flues E<1>, and thence to the chimney, or directly to the flues E<1> when one or both of the baffles are moved to the positions shown by chain lines, in which event the hob, or one side of it, is not heated. The baffles D may be replaced by boilers or ovens or cupboards. The improvements may be adapted to the stoves described in Specification 142,179 and 142,667.
