Abstract

1425525 Water tube boilers FOSTER WHEELER JOHN BROWN BOILERS Ltd 7 March 1974 [15 March 1973] 12617/73 Heading F4A A water tube boiler, which includes a furnace chamber 12 defined by tube walls and an adjacent convection pass 14 containing evaporating tubes 26, is provided with a plurality of downcomer tubes 25 which link an upper steam drum 30 with a lower distribution header 28 and to which the convection evaporating tubes 26 are connected. The downcomers 25 form one wall of the convection pass and the tubes 26 are disposed in two directions 26a, 26b so that they are crossed by combustion gases which enter and flow along the convection pass. A convection superheater 41 is disposed adjacent the unfinned tubes 16a, 16b defining the exit from the furnace chamber, and economiser banks 68 are provided in the lower part of the convection pass.
