Abstract

1425379 Apparatus for coating eg chromating surfaces DOMINION FOUNDRIES & STEEL Ltd 31 Aug 1973 [31 Aug 1972] 41167/73 Heading C7U A strip 10 having a Zn or Cd surface is provided with a conversion coating by spraying e.g. a chromating solution in a tank 14 through nozzles 20. If the strip is stopped, detector rolls 11 act to stop the supply of solution, and, after a predetermined time, supply rinsing liquid from a tank 25 through the nozzles. Pressure is applied to the treated strip by rollers 13, the pressure being controlled by a pneumatic cylinder 36.
