Abstract
1424969 Stamping etc.; presses MINSTER MACHINE CO 26 Sept 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 41915/74 Headings B3Q and B3H A press comprises uprights 12 between a crown 10 and a bed 14, an outer slide 18 guided on the uprights, an inner slide 32 guided in the outer slide 18 and a crank-shaft 26 in the crown having two pairs of throws 38, 40 one pair for each slide which is driven by connecting rods 34 or 36, the throws for one slide being angularly offset from those of the other. As described the outer, leading slide is for performing a blanking operation and may also actuate a blankholder, the inner slide carrying a cupping or drawing die. The inner slide may be counterbalanced by a pneumatic cylinder 96, Fig. 8, and the outer slide by a cylinder (20), Fig. 1 (not shown), on each side. One or both sides of the crank-shaft 26 are driven, through a flywheel 28, gearing and a clutch-brake, by an electromotor 30. Bearings and lubrication.-Four adjustable angle members 60, Fig. 9, bear on corner bearings 62 on the outer slide 18, further bearings 64 being adjustable against the members 60 by wedges 66. Bearing strips 68 at the back of the inner slide run on guides 70 on the outer slide. Inclined bearings 76 on the front of the inner slide are engaged by adjustable coils 78 backed by wedge strips 80 on the outer slide. Lubricant is supplied to zig-zag channels in. the strips 80 and to the other bearing surfaces, catch basins 71, Fig. 8, being provided for the lubricant which is returned to a reservoir for re-circulation. The main bearings of the crankshaft are lubricated, Fig. 4 (not shown), and the throws are supplied through passages (not shown) in the crank-shafts. Stroke adjustment.-The ends of the connecting rods 34, 36, Fig. 8, are attached to screws 52, 63 which are adjustable by nuts 54, 65 turned by worm-gearing. The gearing for each end of a slide are interconnected. Access holes 93, Fig. 2, and 94, Fig. 9, are provided in the slides.
