Abstract

1423880 Controlling vehicles MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR AG GOTTMADINGEN 8 Oct 1973 [10 Oct 1972] 46910/73 Heading B7H An agricultural vehicle is provided with a sensor device 19 for detecting the boundary between cut and uncut crop which, when the device deviates, emits adjusting signals to a steering valve 7, 8 to correct the vehicles direction and means for varying the lock limit of the steerable wheels of the vehicle in dependence on the vehicle inclination. For the purpose of controlling solenoid valve 7 two arms are attached to king pin 4; if wheel deflection is too great arms 14 trip limit switches 15 or 16 according to the direction of excess deflection. The limit switches are mounted on a plate 17 pivoted about an axis 18. On tripping a limit switch the valve is returned to the neutral position. Plate 17 is connected by a Bowden cable 24 to a pendulum weight 22 so that the plate is adjusted to allow for vehicle inclination such as on a hillside where the straight ahead vehicle movement can be maintained only by counter-steering. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the wheel mount 3 carries a slider (28) tapping a resistance (27) attached to the chassis and the pendulum carries another slider (25) tapping a further resistance (26). The resistance are arranged in series and coact with a switch (29) to control the valve.
