Abstract
142,372. Marks, E. C. R., (Englebert Fils et Cie, O.). July 30, 1919. Pneumatic and solid tyres side by side on same wheel.-Relates to devices for preventing damage to pneumatic tyres after deflation of the kind in which an auxiliary tyre 4 of less diameter than the pneumatic tyre 2 is provided, the pneumatic tyre and the auxiliary tyre being each carried by a separate wheel 1, 3 and the auxiliary tyre carrying wheel being arranged next to the vehicle to allow access to the wheel carrying the pneumatic tyre. The invention consists in providing the nave 5 of the auxiliary wheel 3 with a cylindrical extension 6 on which is mounted the nave 8 of the wheel 1 carrying the pneumatic tyre, and in connecting the two wheels together by bolts 9 which pass through flanges 10 on the naves. The auxiliary tyre may consist of a metal rim, a solid rubber or a pneumatic tyre.
