Abstract
1423023 Removing acid gases from gas streams OSAKA YOGYO CO Ltd 14 Aug 1973 [29 Aug 1972 27 Oct 1972] 39285/75 Heading C1A Acid gases, e.g. SO 2 , HCl or oxides of nitrogen, are removed from gas streams by scrubbing with a suspension containing 5-50 parts by wt. of MgO and/or Mg(OH) 2 in 100 parts by wt. of water, the Mg compounds having a surface area of 6000-15,000 cm.<SP>2</SP>/gm. The suspension may also contain MgCO 3 , CaO and/or Ca(OH) 2 , and also an oxide of Na, P, K, V, Mn or Fe as an oxidizing catalyst.
