Abstract
1422757 Briquetting press LINDEMANN MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH 6 March 1974 [17 March 1973] 10091/74 Heading B3H A briquetting press with a mould 12 in which metal scrap or swarf is compacted against an end plate 21 by a ram 4 has a limit switch whose abutment and operating members 19, 20 are mounted on the ram 4 and on a container 11 integral with the mould and which is movable axially of the ram. The scrap or swarf is fed into the container 11 and pushed into the mould 12 by the ram. The mould is held initially in abutment with the end plate 21 and the ram is advanced. After compaction the container is retracted by hydraulic cylinders 18 until the limit switch members contact. Thus the distance moved by the container is inversely proportional to the distance advanced by the ram 4. The retraction distance of the container is arranged to be equal to the length of the compacted briquette (h), Fig. 3 (not shown), plus a small safety margin (a). The briquette can thus fall out of the press by retraction of the ram. The press is hydraulically operated by cylinders 5, 6, Fig. 1 (not shown), of which the former is used to advance the ram 4 and the latter to apply the compaction pressure. A pressure switch 27 operates a solenoid control valve 22 when a specific compaction pressure is reached.
