Abstract

1422335 Rotary mowers MASSEY-FERGUSON-PERKINS LTD 27 March 1973 [29 March 1972] 14614/72 Heading A1F A crop cutter rotor unit suitable for a mower of the kind described in Specification 1376719 has a domed annular cutter carrier 14 with three equally spaced cutter blades 16 secured around the outer periphery on pivot pins 30 mounted between arm members 28 and wear members 32. The blades 16, which may be the shape shown in Fig. 2 or circular or star shaped, Fig. 4 (not shown), are formed with an aperture whereby they are located on the pivot pin 30. In the modified versions the aperture is round, square or formed with a number of lobes so as to provide a plurality of pivot points. If a blade strikes an obstruction, it can move radially inwardly or it can pivot clockwise about pin 30 to an inoperative position in which it does not overlap the edge 46. This action also turns the blade and ensures all the cutting edges are used equally and at the same time results in an automatic self-cleaning action.
